St. Thomas: Day 1

Image
First, for all of you who expressed "concern," for lack of a better word, about me abandoning my blog now that I have twitter-- WRONG. Heck no, peeps. Honestly, I don't even get the point of twitter, but I thought I'd give it a try. Plus, my friend in St. Thomas is really hard to get ahold of for many reasons, and he has twitter, so I thought it'd be another way to keep in touch. Anyway, I'll abandon twitter before my blog, so have no fear, I'm here to stay. For better or for worse. Whether you like it or not. Speaking of St. Thomas, I'm trying to decide how I want to blog about the trip. I feel like one post is going to be really long, but who knows when I would have time to get a second post up about it. Let's just see where this takes us... Two weeks ago today, I arrived in the Caribbean, stepped off the plane, and was offered a shot of pineapple rum. Why, don't mind if I do. Clearly, this is the way I'd like to start any and all vacatio...

Kaua'i Slideshow

Ah, yes, Kaua'i. My favorite island (although not by much) out of the three Hawaiian islands I have seen. For spring break, my parents and aunt and uncle came out for vacation. My parents had been to O'ahu the year earlier, but hadn't really seen a lot of the island as they were there for just a few days. My aunt and uncle had never been, so they all flew in and spent three days on O'ahu so I could show them around. After the three days were up, we hopped a plane and headed to Kaua'i. I was in love the moment we landed. Kaua'i means "The garden isle," everything is lush, tropical, and everything I had imagined Hawai'i to be. I really cannot describe the immense beauty that is the island of Kaua'i. The best part? We were there at the end of March and all the whales had started migrating back to Alaska. As a result, there were ample amounts of whales surrounding the entire island. Our condo lanai was on the ground floor and overlooked the cliffs...

Maui Slideshow

When I lived in Hawai'i, I only made it over to the island of Maui for a quick day trip. I was kind of bummed, but no one else wanted to spend the money on it and most of my friends had done a week long cruise of the islands and had already seen Maui. I assumed my next chance to get back there and actually SEE the island would be when I'm married, perhaps on my honeymoon. I had no clue it would happen a short two years later. To make a long story short, the trip that my parents and I were supposed to take to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico last May ended up being cancelled two weeks before we were to leave-- thank you swine flu and drug lords. We ended up getting the week back for our timeshare, plus our airfare, plus an additional 1500 dollars in ticket vouchers. We were lucky. Anyhow, (long story short, remember), my mom and I ended up doing a girls trip to Maui the very week we should have been in Mexico. And if you've read, um, half of one of my posts, you know how much I am ob...
